We took a little time to recover from the fight with the Dynastic Nobles, and then leClaire (a contact of Korvalis) got in touch, letting us know that things were afoot at the Upper City.

We set off, with leClaire as a guide, and entered the lower Mine Workings.

As we travelled, we noticed several cave-ins, and Master Sui heard noises in the distance - the chittering of fell beasts?

We came upon one rock fall, blocking our passage, and there was definitely something on the other side, and it was trying to get through. Thinking we had a little time, we tried another route, but on reaching the Forging Chamber, we found it occupied. A few Dragon Bloods and Immaculates were ordering miners to prepare barricades against an oncoming foe. Thinking to assist, we heard beasts penetrate the previous rock-fall, and rushed to block them.

Many scores of Hobgoblins, with their iridescent, chitinous hides, poured through the gap, trying to widen it for what was to follow ...

The fight was tough, but soon naught was left of the Wyld foe.

Korvalis had found a new foe, though. A Luna Archer (possibly one we'd met before, at the Hidden Lightning) had ambushed him, leaving him sorely wounded.

We turned to see what came after the Wyld Horde, while Ben and Korvalis considered the Luna.

A well-presented gentleman, fair of face and voice, and carrying the bearing and markings of a General of the Unformed. A Fae Cataphract!

As we moved to block his passage, he carved a tear in Creation, and summoned forth a horde made up of our own nightmares!

Ben was ready to unleash his Sorcery upon the Fae, but Princess was already charging through the corridor, closely followed by Lady Khensa and Sui. He chose instead to hurl his Brilliant Raptor at he Luna - Korvalis's return fire had already wounded her, and Ben's Majicks ensured she would fire no more. She crumpled to the ground, little more than ashes.

At the other fight, Sui was hard-pressed to stand against such a foe, but Princess hurled herself bodily in the way of the assailants.

Khensa strode forward, using the reach of her new Whip to attack the Cataphract.

In return, he took his elf-bow and streaked a bolt towards Sui's heart. The mystical missile tore past Physical defences, stopping only when it hit the outer edges of his Soul! What would have been a sore blow for others lodged painfully in Sui's Bonfire Anima, protecting him from further harm.

Ben and Korvalis turned to assist, and in an uncharacteristic display of prowess, Ben charged the assembled group, smashing and weaving his way towards the Cataphract, and laying a telling blow against him! This distraction gave the others the opportunity to clear the last of the Nightmares, leaving just the Cataphract!

"Oh, make your minds up, Children of the Sun! 'Destroy Creation', 'Don't Harm Creation' ... What am I to do with you?" And he was gone, back to the Unformed Places Beyond Creation.

Before we had chance to assess, there are shouts behind us - screams of fleeing Miners, over-run by their assailants ...
