We finish off chatting at Krefeld Keep, and head off to Dongola.

It's a week of hard travel, but we fare well.

On route, we hear that the whole area is building for war, funded by a massive tax on the foreign merchants.

On arrival, we note that the City is split into two sections: The Foreign Quarter (where we are expected to stay) and the Old City, on the other side of the river.

The Tall Man locates some of his contacts, and finds that all visitors must submit to Augury before entering. We get a list of questions, and Ben suggests they are pretty standard, but with a tilt towards "are you, or have you ever been fae/demon/other evil?" Lady Khensa arranges our entrance, and we are soon being escorted to the Great Hall, to visit the King.

We are shown to a waiting hall, where four young Dragonblooded Nobles are waiting to be seen. We are ushered, one by one, into a small dark room, where some black-robed women check us out. Behind a grill, a figure watches us.

  • Tirigan and Lady Khensa pass through uneventfully.
  • The Tall Man feels his Aura twinge, as the figure (a fae, it seems!) feeds on his fear. (1 mote)
  • Master Sui is presented with a writ for his father's gambling debts. A decade old, they are an impressively large amount (A resource 2 payment).
  • Ben runs into trouble, as they quiz him about his Staff, and his dealings with Fae. They seem to think that the Trickster he tricked is still influencing him. He is barred from meeting the King.

Ben and The Tall Man find enough cash to pay Sui's debt, and Ben goes to sort it out, while the rest of us see the King. Actually, we meet a Council, and Lady Kensha discusses the situation, while The King finds Ben, and chats awhile.

Dongola is raising a mighty army (30,000 men under arms!) to send to Kodor, and is holding a Trial to choose it's General. This army is not expected to return.

We have told the Council that we will do what we can to aid them.

The next day, we are ready to set off further South.

We are planning on arriving at Kodor from the East, after travelling through The Great Erg. Hopefully Ben's Water Spirits will aid us in finding sustenance, and the Wild Things that live there leave us alone!
