At the age of 5, a Street Urchin was taken into the Citadel Temple of the Lady of the Rose, part of the Baryan State Religion. As a young acolyte she showed much potential. Each year, at the annual Test of The Bitter Thorn, she excelled, twice attaining the rank of White Rose (unheard of over the last 200 years). The temple taught her much, the Ways of the Courtesan, Mastery of the Martial Arts, the Sciences, Politics, and Diplomacy. She developed a fascination with ancient history, and dreamt of a mythical golden age where everyone had plenty.

At the age of 16 she was sent by the order as an emissary of the Lady to the city of Soba. She immediately developed an affinity for the city and its people, effortlessly fitting into the upper echelons of Soba society. After a few years she married and the rich (and rather old) merchant and 2nd Lord Treasurer Shadi Darawesh. Within 2 years Shadi was dead, although according to his many friends and colleagues he had been incredibly happy and energised during the last months of his life. Upon his death Khensa inherited the bulk of his wealth, and under her it continued to grow, as she showed a maturity beyond her years.

Over the next few years Khensa solidified her position, make a number of political, romantic and business alliances (often 2 or 3 of these with the same individual).

The moment of her enlightenment came when she met the merchant Kylor of the Torne. This individual had proposed a number of advantageous business deals and Khensa had arranged a private meeting with him to tie up a few details. At this meeting however he revealed dark sorceries which he unleashed on her. Initially unable to react, she then snapped as holy light coursed through her and she struck back with martial arts skills backed up with new found power, driving him away. Next day she found he and his retinue had departed towards the south, though she knows not who he represented or what exactly he wanted. She is now in contact with others similarly blessed, and plans to forge a new history.
