Session 28
We opened with a discussion of our next move.
We know there is a group inside the Hidden Lightning Monastery, probably looking for Duran Duran's research and communications. We suspect there is a group outside the Monastery (the one that attacked the Temple in Soba), waiting for their friends.
An Infallible Messenger spell was sent to Humble Stoat, who replied with some useful info, and some ramblings about Heaven's Plans.
We decided to move stealthily towards the Secret Exit, possibly meeting the Group along the way.
We pass three Demon-Mounts, bejewelled Agatas, dematerialised in the scrub forest, and choose to leave them unmolested, for fear of giving away our position.
Further along, we notice the Group, and they seem to have noticed us.
A moment to prepare, and battle is joined!
Korvalis notices one of their number has slipped past us, and is preparing a bow. He prepares his own and, with a burst of fire, shoots him down.
To the other side, Ben sees what appears to be a young city-urchin approaching through the trees. Calling quickly upon the Mists of Eventide, he drops the poison-cloud over the youth.
An armoured woman approaches Lady Khensa, but the Courtesan cartwheels away, hoping to take control of the battle.
Master Sui has other ideas, and charges the woman.
The woman's companion joins the fray, and the melee becomes chaotic.
Ahead, the group's leader joins his Blood-Ape guards, and orders a dozen Mercenary Soldiers forwards.
Korvalis turns his attentions to Sui and Khensa, offering supporting fire, and the fight is one-sided.
Ben keeps out of range of the boy staggering out of the Mists, and prepares a new spell.
As Khensa and Sui stand side by side, preparing for the mercenaries to support their comrades, Ben unleashes an onslaught of Obsidian Butterflies, shredding the woman, her friend, and the mercenaries!
With most of the forces dead or dying, the Leader silently opens a Portal to Malfeas, and slips through with his Apes. The fight is over.
As we gather the prisoners (Archer and Boy), and check the fallen for the stolen letters from the Temple (oh, and a couple of Jade Artefacts!), Sui notices the Monastery Master viewing proceedings from the Manse above.
Then we hear the sound of a Whirlwind nearby, and Khensa recognises it as a StormWind Rider spell, similar to her newly learnt Sorcery.
With no time to waste, she casts her own, and we are all (apart from the Archer - the Whirlwind can only carry so many people) swept across the Land, in hot pursuit of the Villains!
