Session 6
we meet up with Cynis Allegra ready for the Boat race. Lady Khensa has supplied us all with new clothes.
The Tall Man sneaks off to watch the Vault, while the rest of us mingle with the toffs. Plenty of people for Lady Kensha to chat with.
The Satrap appears, and is handed The Key by The Lady Of Rent Veils (his Master of Shadows - chief of the secret police). He starts the Race, and we all watch with varying degrees of interest. The Key is returned to a Display Case in a side chamber.
Master Sui is introduced to an Immaculate Monk, and we spend a few moments comparing theological views before Lady Khensa interrupts.
Meanwhile, merchants are taking Spice into the Vault. As expected, the security is quite tight.
After the Race, we mingle in smaller groups, until the ground shakes from some kind of explosion! We rush to the Vault (While Tirigan watches the Key). The Tall Man is struggling to get the Outer Gate to open, until Master Sui flashes his Zenith Mark at it. The Gate reluctantly obeys. The Inner Gate is a little easier to persuade, despite its protests that the heat will harm us. Master Sui is not afraid of such matters, and rushes in to the burning Vault, closely followed by The Tall Man. Ben has headed back to the Garden, as more Quakes have been noted.
We find that the Vault has been breached, and The Spice Harvest set afire with flame-wand powder! Sui sets to recovering what he can, including sealing off a room full of paper records, while The Tall Man investigates the scene. It appears that some kind of Gore-Maul has been used to smash an entrance from the Catacombs, and then open an exit up into the Garden! The Tall man follows the route ...
... straight into Fox and Stoat, and their minions! Fox is busy smashing certain Murals (Ben has noted that they are Sorcerous in nature), while Stoat marshals his Black Claw Initiates!
Tirigan sees The Lady of Rent Veils move towards the Key, but something feels wrong. He challenges her, and she tries to push him aside. Stepping to defend The Key, he realises this is an Impostor!
So, battle is joined! Upstairs, Tirigan faces an unknown Abyssal (whatever they are - Ben might explain later), while in the Garden, Fox and Stoat are facing The Tall Man arriving from the Vault, and Ben arriving from the Citadel. Lady Kensha is not far behind Ben, and Master Sui will be arriving to help The Tall Man, but has some ground to cover!
