Cognoscenti Carnivale

A large, if loosely associated, band of travelling performers. their number are in the hundreds, maybe over a thousand in total, but thinly spread, often in small groups.

They are recognisable by their symbol of a large book showing the Drama-Masks.

Under the leadership of their mysterious Management, they tour Alodia, and beyond, entertaining the public with History Plays, Morality Tales, and theatre of all manners, along with numerous side-shows.

Although distrusted by many City-Folk, they are known to many sages and scholars as a valuable source of knowledge, and if their various libraries, books and other works were ever assembled in one place it would rival any in The South, and even put many of The Blessed Isle's repositories to shame.

Cognoscenti bands vary from a handful of travelling players to large troupes, and occasionally a few hundred gather to celebrate a particular Festival or Holy Day.

It is thought that they worship a Saviour, who led them from the clutches of a Fey Prince.

Recently a troupe was witnessed in Champoor, there for the Passing-Out celebrations of the White Lotus Academy, who said they had met their Saviour.
